Job Description

SUMMARY:

The incumbent is responsible for utilizing creative selling techniques, problem solving and technical skills to provide solutions to our Customers’ needs. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.

 

·         Determine customer needs and provide technical solutions to meet them

·         Be responsible for managing the overall profitability of each customer and the territory as a whole

·         Creative prospecting to find new sales avenues

·         Demonstrate systems for customer presentations, including simple programming

·         Conduct regular sales visits with new and established customers

·         Provide cost-effective solutions to customers

·         Provide easily accessible sales and product support for Customers

·         Focus efforts toward the goal of growing Womack’s market share

·         Other duties may be required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some movement from area to area, transporting of items such as a laptop computer, printers, servers, paper, books, and small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Position requires long periods of sitting while driving or riding as a passenger in an automobile. Must be able to move through customer sites, including warehouses, shipyards, oil field rigs, manufacturing facilities, etc.  Must be able to effectively communicate using company-issued devices such as laptop, mobile phone, etc.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor and indoor environments, including temperature variances, humidity, dust, noise, etc. Overnight travel may be required; frequency depends upon assigned sales territory.  Attending regular meetings, training and making sales calls via automobile or airplane is required. Work outside normal business hours is required from time to time.

 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection. 

 

      EDUCATION:

·         Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is desired

·         High school diploma or GED certification is required

 

      EXPERIENCE:

·         At least three years of automation sales experience calling on and developing Customers that buy Automation Equipment and Systems, including but not limited Programmable Logic Controllers, HMI Products, Servo Drives, Stepper Drives, Motion Controls, Precision Gear Boxes, Mechanical Actuators, Sensors & I/O Devices, Pneumatics, and AC/DC Drives  

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·         Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts to product lines

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with engineers and technical designers to determine and deliver appropriate customer solutions

·         Ability and desire to work independently without direct supervision

·         Ability to persuade and influence others through excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

·         Advanced ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·         Ability to provide simple programming for customer sales demonstrations

·         Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude sufficient to translate any application’s performance requirements into specific drives and controls recommendations using mathematical sizing calculations and/or software tools.
